Solid Motorcycle Distributors, Inc. originated from Roxas City Solid Merchandising which was founded in 1969 with the effort of Mr. Pablo & Mrs. Monica Chu. The business started with a small capital and they personally managed the business coupled with hard work, perseverance, self-discipline and above all, faith in God. It all started with small items like AM/FM transistors radios, bicycle and its parts and with small item of motorcycle spare parts. Many years had passed and the business grows in capital.With the good condition of spare parts business, Mr. Chu tried to sell (1) unit of Suzuki and Yamaha Motorcycle Units in the year 1986 which then became the start of Solid Motorcycle Distributors, Inc. and was formally registered and approved last March 16, 1996 under SEC Reg No. 003075 with the primary purpose“to engage in, operate and maintain in the business of importing, exporting, buying selling, trading, servicing or otherwise dealing in, all kinds of goods, wares and merchandise which or may become articles of commerce but not limited to motorcycle and its parts and accessories.”Also the same year SMDI expanded its operations and the first branch was established in Antique then followed by Kalibo and Iloilo. With the remarkable growth of the business that in 1998 it expanded in Cebu particularly in AC Cortez, Mandaue City, Cebu which was managed by Mr. Hiram S. Chu son of Mr. Pablo Chu and later assumed by the late Mr. Henrik S. Chu, the youngest son of Mr. Pablo Chu who was then the Managing Director of Cebu operation. At present, SMDI has 12 branches in Panay, and (1) newly opened satellite office in Balasan, Iloilo and (12) branches in Cebu and (4) Satellite Offices.
